Feeling obligated

I have been giving this site address to people for a while, but haven't truly been working on this blog. I have decided to take a very personal spiritual journey and as a result, have unfortunately been falling behind on my artistic endeavors. I am coming back to that again, however, and will be creating a completely handmade book very soon. I am very exited about this upcoming project and would not be able to complete it if it weren't for my very handy tool man, Jason, and the encouragement and understanding of my very good friend Wayne. Jason has agreed to help me make some frames so I can make my own handmade paper. And I will be looking for a sizable tub to do my paper making in so as not to clog my sink with paper mulch. Tomorrow, I will finish my search for a cheap blender and encourage my son to rip up paper with me. What fun! So, because this is an art blog, and not a blah, blah, blah, blog, I will post some older artwork. Just something that I have lying around in my computer files. Hmmm... Let's see...

Well, it appeared at the top instead of the bottom, but I think it works. I drew this for a shared book for a friend of mine. It is one of two that I did that are similar. Maybe I will post the other one some time soon. Hope you enjoy it. Done with a micron pen and watercolor crayons. Happy creativity every one!

Moving on up

The last time I posted anything I swore to do a piece of art work every day. Well, life happens and I have EPICLY failed that challenge. But in light of my enormous failure, I did manage to create those bookmarks and get those sent out. I am especially proud of my owl and the dragon at the top. Admittedly, these are not necessarily "original" pieces. They were drawn from other sources, but my pencil and my brush alone created these pieces of art. All of them. I have finally received the bookmarks back from my trade, though I have not been home to view them yet. When I do, I will surely get permissions to post and post them promptly. So for now, this is all I have to offer. I do hope that you enjoy them as much as I did. :)

Sorry for the delay

It has been kind of hectic here since I last wrote. I helped a friend move from one town to another, and get moved in and his things put away and all that, so since Tuesday, I have not been able to do a whole lot of drawing. That being said, I do have a bunch of drawings that I did last week for last weeks post that I will put up tonight.

Michelle Ward has a new challenge up this month about collecting evidence. Ticket stubs, mail, photos, whatever memorabilia that helps you remember a certain special time either recently or a while back. I will be doing that before long.

I also have the bookmarks in the works for the Atcsforall.com challenge. Almost done with those. So exited to see what I get back for marks!

So without further adieu here are the promised photos of artwork from last week to this week. More to come! The top 2 pieces were from a book about how to draw Fantasy Creatures. The bottom two are mine. :D Enjoy.

Uh Oh!

First I want to apologize for the lack of pics. My camera is dead and I don't have easy access to a scanner at the moment, but as soon as I have batteries for my camera I will put up my new work.

In the past week I have been doing a lot of drawing. I have thus far stayed true to my resolution of doing something art related every day. The first two days since I started were original and only took me an hour or so each to complete. If that. Yesterday I did quite a lot of drawings all based on a single book about cartooning that I've had for what seems like forever. I think I was still in high school when I got it. We won't mention how long ago that was... ahem... Anyway, I never even attempted any of the exercises that were in the book until now. I am quite proud of the end products though. Pictures will come later, promise.

I have a tendency to move from one thing to another, to another, to another and I believe that this is why I haven't developed my skill further than where it is at now. So I have decided to slow down and redevelop my skills from the beginning, and go from there. See how it goes, so there will be a lot of practice sketches coming up.

Right now I am working on bookmarks for a mail art swap from atcsforall.com. I like that site, and have gained quite a bit from it. I am also signed up for atc swap about eyes. I love to draw eyes and I will put up my work as well as what I receive from the swaps, as long as I can get permission to do so.

I will also be doing the art crusades from Michelle Ward's site http://www.michelleward.typepad.com/how_cool_is_that/ They are not only a lot of fun, but they get me to try different things and mediums that I wouldn't normally try. So whoot! Plenty of variety to come. I will upload some pics in the next few days once I get batteries in my camera.

Wowzer

So after an enormously long hiatus, I am back in the scene and feeling more artsy than ever. This is my goal for the new year. I am going to do something artsy EVERY DAY! Even if it just a simple doodle on a restaurant napkin. I am going to post something new every week, at the very least. Sometimes more, it depends on whether something tickles my fancy or not. And, I am going to try to sell some artwork, so if you see anything you would like to have, whether to shove away in a closet or perhaps a bookmark or what have you, please let me know. I don't have anything that I would sell for more than 25 bucks, so if you see something you like, it never hurts to inquire. I got a lot of canvas and artsy things for Christmas this year and plan to do more painting. I have one in the works now, that I am especially proud of. Anyway, so this is an interim kind of post, the next one will be no later than Friday, and I will have some artwork to show off! Yay!

Sorry for the break

Sorry for the long intermission. Moving out of my boyfriend's house, no internet, and no free time really has made me neglect my art a bit, but I have started a new project with a friend of mine for a 3D element for DnD. Yes, I am a dork and proud of it. :) Anyway, we are working on making a 3d Arena, full scale. Well, full scale for DnD miniatures anyway... Think the colosseum in Rome. Similar to that. Gonna be made of foam core, and all mapped out. I will post pics when it is done. So exited to be working on such an exiting project!

Completion! How sweet the word...

Here are my "Beautiful Nature Series" 1-3. I finally completed the polymer atcs I was working on. I am quite proud of them actually. It took a lot of planning on my part to decide which colors to use for each and what I wanted the art work to relay to the viewer. So after much trial and error, I tried to paint with watercolors but it didn't work, I finally have 3 finished pieces that I am pretty proud of. I originally made these cards with the intent to trade but I have just simply put to many woman hours into these little pieces of art. I am not sure how much I want to sell them for but I don't think that I can part from them for free. Unless of course there is another polymer artist out there who would like to trade. Polymer for polymer?? :)
